Tips for Getting Around Ibiza

Ibiza is a small island but it rewards guests who explore beyond the main resort areas. Here’s what to keep in mind when driving:
  • Book early in high season. Car availability drops significantly between June and August. If you’re visiting in peak summer, reserve your vehicle at the same time as your accommodation.
  • Formentera is accessible by ferry. You can take a car to Formentera on the ferry from La Savina, but many visitors prefer to rent bikes or a small car on the island itself — it’s very compact and easy to navigate.
  • Parking in Ibiza Town and San Antonio can be tight in summer. A smaller vehicle is easier to park in the old town areas.
  • Fill up before heading to remote beaches. Some of Ibiza’s most beautiful coves — like Cala d’Hort and Aguas Blancas — are accessed via narrow roads with no services nearby.
  • Sat-nav is your friend. Many rural roads aren’t well signposted. Download an offline map or use Google Maps with offline caching before you leave your accommodation.
